The Department Ancient History and Archaeology is established in 2013. The Study of Ancient History and Archaeology has its significance bringing out the glorious epoch of human civilizations. To understand how man came into eminence of achieving higher echelons of science and culture, a peep into the human past is essential it envisages how it was not just a sojourn from cave to pastures, to river valley’s and to modern dwellings. The study contains the story of the man untold so-far, hidden in ancient ruins, material remains, artifacts and literary works. Ancient history could provide a panorama of how these developments happened. Man, by nature is a curious animal. Searching, pondering over unknowns is his inclination. The study naturally satisfies the thirst of peeping into unknown world. The charm of the ancient world beckons the modern archaeologists to engross in explorations and excavations. Finding of mound of burnt bricks brought to light the glorious chapter of Most developed urban civilization of Harappa, which stretched the progressive period in one of the least known parts of the world. Finding a small stone tool by Bruce Foote near Madras brought to light an unknown epoch of ancient people in South India. Most of the civilizations of the world of: ancient Greeks, Romans, Byzantians, Mayans, Harappa, Egyptian, Mesopotamian were brought to light through the sickle, hammer and digging by the archaeologists. Archaeological explorations had helped mankind to understand the depth of knowledge, abundant of sources, richness of cultural heritage of those bi-gone ages. Ancient history and archaeology helps human beings to trace their ancestry to understand the milestone in development, one delves into the ancient world as no period in history is uneventful, leading from one glorious epoch to another. Ancient civilizations like Mayan, Harappa, Byzantian and Chinese spread over far extended in time and space. Marvellous masterpieces of art, sculpture, literature left by them is beyond the understanding of the man. Ancient history is a foremost branch of knowledge helping modern man to ascertain his roots, understand human development strongly embedded in the sands of time.

To educate the learners, and encourage them to protect our glorious Indian heritage, by reading the Indian heritage, culture and history and to inspire the community.

To equip the learners students to dedicate themselves for the protection of our heritage sites and also creating awareness among the people.
